Cellulite mostly affects women in all shapes and sizes. This is commonly found in the thighs. However, it can also be present in the stomach, buttocks, and legs.

Cellulite is composed of free-floating fat cells which are deposited just under the skin. It comes with a distinct appearance just like a dimpled surface on the skin. This condition is primarily caused by hormonal imbalance, genetics, and unhealthy lifestyle.

Why are More Women Prone to Developing Cellulite?

Women are more at risk of developing cellulite because of three primary reasons.

First, the hormonal changes that women experience weaken the fibrous tissues that surround the fat cells, which have an adverse effect on the skin’s support structures. Such effects are typically seen when you reach 25 to 35 years old, which is about the same time when the estrogen levels start to decline.

Hormonal changes will cause loss of receptors of the blood vessels in various parts of the body, in particular on the hips and thigh. Also, it will also disrupt proper blood circulation, which will ultimately affect collagen production, making the skin and the connective tissues weaker.

Another reason why women are more at risk of developing cellulite is that they naturally hold more fat compared to men. Also, women are not as good at oxidizing fat compared to men.

Lastly, a woman’s fat cell makeup is distributed in vertical columns, which makes their fat cells more prone to bulging compared to men. Men’s fat is arranged in a denser pattern, which is more resistant to pitting.

Ways to Get Rid of Cellulite Naturally

Cellulite formation can become worse as your age matures. The fibrous connective tissues on the skin will become stiffer while the skin loosens, resulting to a more pronounce cellulite formation.

The good thing is that there are various ways that can help get rid of cellulite naturally. Here are some of them.

Eat a Well-Balanced and Healthy Diet

It cannot be denied that the food that we eat affects us physically. Eating a balanced and healthy diet will ensure that your body is healthy and leaner.

Eating healthy will also make sure that you lose that extra fat as well as toxins lodged in your cells, and body tissues. It is always best to go for the fresh leafy greens and fruits, as they promote toxin removal and minimize the appearance of cellulite.

Proper Hydration

Keeping your body hydrated is important in reducing cellulite formation along with other symptoms of aging. Also, hydration also improves skin elasticity, regulate body temperature, promote muscle efficiency, and improve mental function.

If you are dehydrated, your body will look lumpy, aged and shriveled. If you want to have a cellulite-free body with smooth skin, you should drink at least eight glasses of water every day.

Dry Brushing and Massage

Dry brushing is considered as one of the simplest ways to get rid of cellulite, especially in the thigh area.

The process of dry brushing significantly improves blood circulation as well as lymphatic drainage, which ultimately removes the buildup of toxins in the body and reduces the appearance of cellulite.

Before you start the process, you have to make sure that the brush and your skin are both dry. Then, you can start brushing from your feet up towards your shoulders. You have to focus more in those areas with more cellulite.

You have to make sure that you brush from the left side to the right side of the body. Also, you have to keep the brushing movements concentrated towards the direction of the heart to promote blood circulation.

You can perform dry brushing for about five minutes before taking a shower to remove impurities and dead skin skills.

Exercising will not only help relieve stress but also provide an endorphin rush, which eliminates toxins through the skin. As you sweat, toxins and other waste products are removed from the body through the skin. Also, this will help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

With the right exercise routine, you can improve your body’s overall appearance through toning and tightening. You can make your cellulite disappear along with other signs and symptoms of aging.

Cayenne Pepper

Another natural way to reduce the appearance of cellulite in the body is through consuming cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper is a fat burning food that has the natural ability to heat up the body, boost metabolism, and improve blood circulation.

With regular consumption of cayenne pepper, you can effectively eliminate toxins from your body and reduce the appearance of cellulite, especially in the thigh area.

You can even create a detoxification drink with cayenne pepper. You simply have to mix a teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder with one teaspoon of grated ginger and water or lemon juice. You drink this once or twice daily for about a month or two.

Coffee Scrub

Coffee scrubs can also help reduce cellulite naturally. Coarse coffee grounds can be utilized as an exfoliating scrub to help remove dead skin cells. Also, this promotes regeneration of new and healthy skin cells. Aside from using coffee scrubs, drinking coffee also improves blood circulation.

To create your coffee scrub, you have to mix one-fourth cup of coffee grounds with two tablespoons of sugar and about two tablespoons of coconut oil. You have to create a paste out of the mixture.

Using the paste, you apply it to the affected skin while massaging the area for several minutes using firm pressure. After, you can rinse the paste with lukewarm water.

Another way to use coffee grounds is to prepare a wrap with olive oil and coffee grounds. You can heat a half cup of coffee with olive oil in a microwave for about 20 seconds. Once heated, you can spread it over the affected area and have it covered with plastic wrap.

You have to leave the wrap for about 30 minutes before removing it and rinsing the area with warm water.

You can do both processes at least twice a week until you can see some improvement.
